When sloe meets juniper.
Sloe Gin is a liqueur with sloes marinated in gin. The basis for this exceptional liqueur is our gin.
The typical gin aroma is rounded off by the fine sloe taste for the Sloe Gin. After several weeks, the sloes are filtered out and bottled.
The result is a wonderfully aromatic sloe gin with a fine taste of sloe in the foreground and a delicate taste of juniper in the finish. The minimum alcohol content for sloe gin in the EU is 25%.
Juniper is an evergreen cypress plant consisting of around 60 different species up to 40 meters tall, which are mainly found in the northern hemisphere. Juniper has many uses. Essential oil is extracted from the needles and berries, the wood is used for incense to create a pleasant scent or to drive out evil spirits, as in the Middle Ages. In the kitchen, juniper berries are traditionally used for sauerbraten or sauerkraut. However, juniper berries are best known for making gin and are the predominant flavoring agent.
Sloe, also known as blackthorn, is found as a shrub or tree up to 3 meters tall in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa in sunny locations on calcareous or rocky soils. Blackthorn was already an important fruit for food in the Stone Age. The fruit is only edible after the first frost.
In our timeless 500ml square bottle with a pointed cork. The unusual square shape of our bottle allows for particularly beautiful color plays. Always welcome as a small souvenir too.
Our pointed corks are pure natural products from sustainable harvests. They were cut from a single piece of the bark, then heated at more than 65 degrees (core temperature) for several hours and are thus thermally disinfected (no poisons or chemicals, just heat).
