Rock salt has been painstakingly tapped out of the rock of the Alps with stone axes and picks made from deer antlers since around 5,000 BC. The oldest mine dates back to around 1,200 BC with tunnels up to 300 meters deep. Today, rock salt is blasted out of the salt seams and transported with huge excavators to crushing plants that break up the lumps.
Our finely ground rock salt is perfect for seasoning all dishes such as soups and stews, sauces, as well as for all meat and fish dishes and vegetables. Without anti-caking agents, anti-clumping agent, free-flowing-agent or other additives. An absolutely pure, finely ground rock salt that glistens in the light.
