A major advantage is their long shelf life; they soften quickly in water and release their wonderful flavour.

Peppers are a nightshade plant and originally come from Central and South America. Of the approximately 25 varieties, only 5 have been domesticated, all others are original varieties. Peppers were already being cultivated around 5,000 BC and quickly spread around the world after the discovery of America.
