Oregano is a perennial plant from the labiate family with a very spicy flavor. It grows to a height of between 20-70 cm. The hairy leaves are pointed at the ends and are very soft to the touch.
It is often confused with marjoram from the same family. However, marjoram is an annual and has a much milder and slightly sweet taste.

Like many herbs, oregano was used in ancient times as a seasoning, but also as a remedy for digestive disorders and respiratory diseases.

Add oregano to soups, sauces, salads, marinades, pizzas, steaks, ratatouille and all Mediterranean dishes.

Kitchen tip: Oregano should never be missing on a pizza! But it should also be added to other Italian dishes such as tomato sauces or meat and fish dishes.
